Custom Energy Technology Trainings

Suggested trainings may include: "Understanding Energy Management Systems", "Using Advanced Lighting Technologies" and "Commissioning and Retro Commissioning Building ", Fan and Motor Optimization, and Variable Frequency Motors.   MAEEP is willing to consider any requests for technical training.

Custom On-Site Commercial, Institutional and Industry Specific Trainings

The MAEEP program has the ability to deliver trainings and services to specific customer groups, such as hospitals, wastewater treatment plants, schools and colleges on areas such as heating systems, motors, and pumps. The MAEEP program is capable of providing industry specific programs, some examples of which include: Plastics Manufacturing, Metal Casting, Specialty Paper, Wood Products, Food Processing, Specialty Chemical Manufacturing, Mining, and Biotechnology.

Energy Training Certification Opportunities

In addition to general awareness and technical trainings, advanced level technical training and certification offerings can be brought to the state through USDOE and MAEEP. There are three advanced training programs offered through USDOE ITP, AirMaster+, PSAT and PHAST and are listed below. A Steam Specialist Training is being developed as a fourth advanced training program.

Compressed Air - AirMaster+ Specialist Qualification

Training offered to certify Qualified AIRMaster+ Specialists. In this program participants must have previously completed the CAC's Advanced Management of Compressed Air Systems course as a prerequisite to the AIRMaster+ training. During the course, participants will learn: how to use the AIRMaster+ software, How to accurately acquire input data for AIRMaster+, how to use AIRMaster+ to evaluate compressed air systems and develop a measurement plan, how to make measurements for hourly trends of typical daily data vs. making dynamic measurements to characterize system events, pressure and flow profiles, how to create AIRMaster+ compressor-operating scenarios, accounting for the affect of system dynamics, pressure profiles, characteristics of flow vs. pressure, and compressor control operation

Pumping System Assessment Tool (PSAT) Qualification

Training for specialists on the Pumping System Assessment Tool: Participants who complete the workshop and pass a qualifying exam will be recognized by DOE as Qualified Pump System Specialists, and will be listed on the BestPractices Web site. Specialists assist industrial customers in using PSAT to evaluate their pumping systems.

Process Heating Assessment and Survey Tool (PHAST) Qualification

Training for specialists on PHAST: PHAST helps you improve the thermal efficiency of your plant by providing methods and tools to survey process heating equipment that uses fuel, steam, or electricity, and identify the most energy-intensive equipment. To help users get the most from the tool, DOE and the Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IHEA) offer Qualified Process Heating Specialist program, and participants who successfully complete a qualification workshop an exam receive the designation.

Steam System Assessment Specialist Training

Training for specialists on Steam System Assessment Tool: The Steam System Assessment Specialist Training is being piloted by the USDOE Steam Best Practices group to qualify specialist in assisting industrial customers in using the SSST to evaluate their steam system. Current training is limited; however the NE has been identified as a potential pilot location and may be delivered using internet technology to contain cost.
