Building Electrification with Air-to-Water Heat Pumps (2 part webinar)

Learn about air-to-water heat pump technology, considerations for retrofits in existing commercial and institutional buildings, and emerging technologies. Speakers:

Jon Brenton, PE, LEED AP BD+C, MCPPO is a client executive at IMEG. His expertise is in leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects focusing on energy efficiency, resiliency, and electrification throughout New England. As a design engineer, Jon’s focus has been on improving building controls, system performance, thermal comfort, indoor air quality, resiliency, and sustainability. Jon has led numerous heat pump projects and is adept at finding the most cost-effective and adaptable sustainable solutions that meet the client’s needs.

Elena Proakis Ellis, P.E., BCEE is the Director of Public Works for the City of Melrose, Massachusetts, and also served as the City Engineer in Melrose from 2015 to 2020. Elena is a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, a Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE), and a Licensed Water Distribution System Operator. She has been working in the environmental science and engineering fields for 30 years, previously working as an engineer for the Town of Concord, MA and as a consultant at CDM Smith. Elena has a degree in Earth and Environmental Science from Wesleyan University and a Masters in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

Kevin Silveira, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and Certified Energy Manager (CEM) with over a decade of experience advancing decarbonization through building electrification, energy efficiency, and heat pump technologies. In his current role as Lead Development Engineer at National Grid, he helps customers develop electrification strategies, evaluate energy impacts, and identify potential incentives to support their clean energy and carbon reduction goals.

In Lori Timmermann’s Community Solutions role at National Grid, she works with municipalities, schools, residents, businesses and community-based organizations to launch solutions in the areas of energy efficiency, building decarbonization, clean transportation, and demand response; areas assisting communities in reaching their climate action goals. Her customer’s recent projects include launching a new all-electric school, retrofitting and electrifying 25+ municipal facilities, the installation of 150+ EV charging ports, and in the past year helping many schools to go after major grants to help replace aging heating systems with new decarbonized equipment.

Greg Sine is a mechanical engineer with over 14 years of experience in the energy efficiency field. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of New Hampshire and is a Certified Energy Manager. His area of expertise is in decarbonization of existing buildings in the Medium/Large C&I sector, and has extensive experience conducting decarbonization feasibility assessments, supporting customers pursuing decarbonization, as well as program planning for the Mass Save. Greg currently serves as a Senior Energy Efficiency Consultant at Eversource.
